The Pick-up Artist
Lørdag 22. februar
Pick-up artists are a movement of men whose goal is seduction. They often self-identify as the seduction community or the pick-up community.
The pickup artists work on their «game» by improving their confidence, and self-esteem—collectively termed «inner game»—and their social skills and physical appearance (physical fitness, fashion sense, grooming)—collectively termed the «outer game».
Many members of the community believe that one’s «game» is refined through regular practice.
The performance “The pick-up artist” is a critical comment on the social consequences of such behavior.
Through humor and satire, the intention is to challenge the underlying assumptions and stereotypes embedded in the pick-up culture.
One-night performance only, on saturday 22. feb.
Doors open at 18:00:
Performance at 18:30.
Duration 20. minutes.
Free entrance.
Lars Jonsson(b.1990) is a Swedish artist based in Bergen/Umeå. He is educated at the Art Academy in Umeå, Escola Massana in Barcelona and holds an MFA from the Art Academy in Bergen. He is interested in structures related to identity, relationships and memories. Based on an investigation of various phenomena, his practice is materialized through performance, installation, video, text and objects. And in that process, humor often emerges as a tool for consideration and sensitivity.
