About the exhibition

What is the smallest common denominator that binds us all together? We are the rope of life that must be braided by all of us. If humanity is to endure, we must leave our conflicts on Earth at the end of days, watch from afar as its wrath devours our hatred as if it were devouring us—and finally let go. Because nothing is valid anymore, everything will be alien to us. Everything except ourselves. What began as an apple rotten from the inside can grow into a healthy and magnificent tree. In the end, the giant in the eternal shadow will be created by the hopes and desires of all the survivors…
Chapter Hope by Linda Ebert.

A Long Journey Into Darkness consists of seven large-format paintings that correspond with three science fiction / climate fiction short stories.

It shows the fictional development from a dystopian and self-destructive humanity to a utopian and resilient form of society in which everyone, without exception, can lead a just life.

In the story, Ebert imagines a post-apocalyptic world and explores the resulting habitat of a space station. She uses the legacies of human culture for the construction of the space station to provide orientation points in exile, in a life situation that is primarily characterised by fear and danger.

The addition in the title – Wi‘s Room – refers to a part of the third chapter, for which there will be a performance during the opening.
